First Update! Started the Nurgle Beasts first.  Whenever I do a large project, I always try to do "all" of a model type at the same time, painting or sculpting.  Besides the General and The Demonic Herald, the plagueriders and chariots are "centerpiece" models of the army.  The plagueriders will be riding large maggotish (if that's a word) beasts of nurgle, and the same beasts will pull the chariots.  I decided to build the beasts pretty much from scratch, using wooden beads and carnifex jaws... Here is what the armatures look like...

These are for the Chariots, but you get the idea...

Here is a test worm section I made, will use this to figure out the paint formula for the Beasts:

Finished Plaguerider:  Here are some shots of a rider after I have "fleshed" him out a bit...
Bits used: Carnifex Jaws, Chaos Dragon Horns, Spawn Claws, OOP Plaguebearer (they were easier to modify to be mounted...)

Chariots in the Rough...  What I have so far, will nurgle them up a bit as I fiddle with them:
Chariots will be chained to the Beasts, but after painting.  The wheels are from the Hellcannon, large skulls are FW pieces, used current plaguebearers this time.

Here they are 95% finished, still will do some more detail work, such as hanging heads, etc.

First Unit of Plaguebearers and Herald.  The unit is going to have a magic banner in addition to the Herald's greater Icon.

Army Colors and basing! Here is a test base for the army, will look to get a more green/brown look to the goo, but you get the idea.

This explains the plastic shapes on all the WIP bases.  The army will be various shades of pale, putrid flesh, rusted metal and 1-2 TBD tie-in colors.  I want to get a "Silent Hill" kind of look if possible, we'll see I guess

Working on Sencond unit of plaguebearers.
Step by step one plaguebearer looks like this:

Step one, clean, pin to base, cut off and replace weapon with pin.  For pinning I use very stiff floral wire.  Here is the musician also, I am going with a bell theme...

Step two, add weapon to pin.  Weapon is made from thick plasticard.

Step three, GS weapon haft, add nurgling and texture to base...
Here is a progession sequence of the whole unit:

Display Bases are a requirement for competition armies, IMHO.

Here are some shots of the Legion's display base WIP...
I create multi-level bases for my armies that frame the army.  This time I actualy used a picture frame I found at a garage sale.

First Cut:

I was trying make a large fly to base the army on (the red demon is a stand-in):

the blah-blah will be replaced with a engraved plaque.  I was not happy with this at this stage, a bit too plain, but the balance is pretty good.  I decided to go a bit further:

By resculpting the top a bit and adding "legs", I was pretty happy with this configuration.
I painted this army in ten days in order to have it ready for the Chicago GT.  I did not have time for by step pictures, sorry.  Army is now complete, I will take pictures and post them in the Gallery Section over the next week or so.
